Children’s Ministry

Joyful Path

Children are an important part of our life together at the Cathedral and we work hard to make sure they are made to feel welcome in all that we do.

We have recently purchased a new children’s curriculum for 6-10 year olds written by the people at The Centre for Progressive Christianity ( www.tcpc.org ) The curriculum is called “A Joyful Path” and we hope to start using it soon.

There are an increasing number of young children at the Cathedral, who join us for the first part of our worship together and listen, with the whole congregation, to the scriptures being read. After a special children’s time at the front of the Cathedral, the children make their way to the Harbour Room for supervised activities while the adults remain in the Cathedral for the sermon. During the dry season, the children sometimes do their activities in the beautiful Cathedral grounds, under the trees.

We believe that everyone is invited to God’s table, and children are most welcome to receive the bread and wine of holy communion if they wish. When numbers warrant, Preparation for Admission to Holy Communion classes are held.

All our Children’s Ministry assistants are required to have an ochre card in line with NT Government legislation and Diocesan Policy.
