At last, work has begun.
After twelve months of hard work, grants from the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation and the NT Government and the generosity of Cathedral Friends from all over Australia, work has begun on a major restoration and renovation of Christ Church Cathedral. Costing over $600,000 the project will at last fix the leaks that have plagued the Cathedral since it was built over thirty years ago, repair the damage to the interior, upgrade the electrical system and see the addition of wide tropical verandahs along the Northern and Southern sides of the building.
Once the work is completed, the Cathedral will be more useable, have a smaller carbon footprint and show the whole of the Darwin community that we are committed to remaining a vital spiritual heart in the Darwin CBD.
We still need to raise $50,000.00 to complete this important project. If you would like to donate using our secure on-line facilitiy use the button (left) or you may like to send a cheque to the Christ Church Cathedral Building Appeal, GPO Box 181, Darwin, NT 0801

Putting flesh on dry bones
Thinking about Ezekiel’s vision of dry bones being re-animated made me remember this blog-post I recently read ( here ):
Here is a step-by-step plan for how to get more young people into the church:
- Be genuine. Do not under any circumstances try to be trendy or hip, if you are not already intrinsically trendy or hip. If you are a 90-year-old woman who enjoys crocheting and listens to Beethoven, by God be proud of it.
- Stop pretending you have a rock band.
- Stop arguing about whether gay people are okay, fully human, or whatever else. Seriously. Stop it.
- Stop arguing about whether women are okay, fully human, or are capable of being in a position of leadership.
- Stop looking for the “objective truth” in Scripture.
