From the Dean
Welcome to our website, and welcome to Christ Church Cathedral, in the beautiful city of Darwin, capital of the Northern Territory of Australia. Our parish is a diverse group of people, from all walks of life and many different cultures. But we are united in our determination to be a welcoming community, sharing with each other and all our visitors the love of God.
The Cathedral building was wonderfully renovated under the leadership of the 6th Dean of Darwin, Fr Jeremy Greaves, and is a striking and beautiful building in the middle of the civic precinct of Darwin. It is usually open every day from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm for prayer and meditation. On weekends (Saturday at 5.30 pm, Sunday at 7.30 am and 9.00 am) we have communion services, to which all are welcome. We strive to be an inclusive community, and welcome all to the kingdom, just as our Lord Jesus did.
We also strive to serve the community in which we live, especially in our outreach to the marginalised in our society. Members of the congregation are encouraged to take leadership roles in all parts of our communal life - in worship, pastoral care, and working with those who are most in need of protection and help. The life of a Cathedral in Darwin is very diverse indeed.
Please feel free to contact us: if you are in Darwin we look forward to welcoming you to our Cathedral.
May the peace of God be with you, and may you be a blessing to others.
