Services at Christ Church Cathedral 24 May

On Sunday 24 May there will be both the 7.30am and 9.00am eucharist  celebrated in the cathedral.

Read this important letter from Vivienne Hayward.

Dear All Last week Pat and I had NO idea how many copies of the Order of Service and hymns and pewsheet to ask Yvonne to run off for Sunday. Would 100 people come to the service, thankful to be able to do so once more; or would many people be wary and only 20 or so turn up? It was thrilling that in the end we had to ask those who were able to come to share their Orders of Service. There was a real sense of rejoicing in our gathered community as we heard Pat’s sermon affirming that God is love and love is God and as we together received the bread and wine of communion. Next Sunday we will once more celebrate the 7.30 am service for those of us who appreciate a quiet, reflective celebration of the Eucharist. Mary Martin, a 7.30 service stalwart and our carpark manager, will re-sanitise the pews after that service, ready for the 9 0’clock service. We will also have the 9 am service as usual for those of us who appreciate the contribution of hymns to our worship. Felino Molina, Miriam McDonald and Steve Williams have been working to overcome the problems with our Wifi access in the cathedral which spoiled last Sunday’s live streaming. If you are only able to participate in our Eucharists online do please let me know and I will send you the Order of Service, the hymns and the pewsheet for the day so that you can take part online. For several reasons we are not able to offer Morning Tea just now. When the ‘breakfast program’ of sandwiches and drinks between 8.00 and 8.30 is safe to resume we will hope to resume that too. The Sunday after next is the Day of Pentecost. We are asked to come dressed in red, orange or yellow, the colours of the flame of the Holy Spirit. Jenny Martin has prepared activities in or outside the cathedral for the children, with a view to resuming the Children’s Program in the Harbour Room the following week. AND there will be an announcement that we have been waiting and praying for, for more than a year. Make sure you are with us. Love to all Vivienne
