Lent and Holy Week 2018

Lent is a season when we reflect on the brokenness of our world: this leads us to Holy Week as we consider the darkness that eventually leads to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. However we know that after the darkness comes the light of Easter Day: our journey through Lent involves a journey with Jesus through brokenness and darkness to the light that can never be diminished.   Lenten Studies Please join us at the Cathedral on Tuesday afternoons from 5.30 to 6.30 pm, commencing on Tuesday 20 February. The Dean will lead us in a series of reflections drawing on the Gospel of the previous Sunday, looking at the brokenness which afflict our church and our community - but also looking with hope to those things which can help overcome the despair and darkness of the world.   Holy Week Sunday 25 March - Palm Sunday - 7.30 am & 9.00 am Tuesday 27 March - Lenten Study at 5.30 pm followed by Tenebrae at 7.00 pm Wednesday 28 March - Chrism Mass and affirmation of Ordination Vows at 7.30 am Thursday 29 March - Maundy Thursday - Holy Communion and Washing of Feet at 7.00 pm Friday 30 March - Good Friday - Liturgy and Communion at 9.00 am and Meditation on the last words of Christ at 12 noon Saturday 31 March - Holy Saturday - Evening Prayer at 5.30 pm Sunday 1 April - Easter Day with Service of the First Light at 6.00 am and Holy Communion at 9.00 am
